Moreover, you will be able to cut down your expenses if you make your own soaps. Aside from personal use, you can also give the final products as gifts to your friends or family. They will enjoy receiving these unique gifts. Furthermore, they will appreciate the time and effort that you put into these soaps.

Buy These Ingredients First

Before making the soap, you must have the following ingredients. The list is as follows: distilled water (32 ounces), Essential oil (4 ounces), Sodium Hydroxide or Lye (12 ounces), Vegetable shortening (38 ounces), and Olive or coconut oil (24 ounces). Just make sure that you have the ingredients in the exact amounts to meet the best results. You may choose what type of essential oil you prefer to use. Also, use kitchen gloves to protect your hands.

How To Make the Soaps

First, mix the distilled water and sodium hydroxide or lye in a cooking pot on a stove. Set the fire on medium heat. Add the lye while stirring it until all the lye is completely dissolved. In another pot, also on medium heat of the fire, mix all the oils together. Continuously stir the contents of the pot until they melt and combine. Measure both pots until they reach 35 to 35 degrees Celsius. When both pots reach this temperature, add the lye to the pot with the oils. Then, you may add the essential oils. Once done, pour the mixture to these silicone molds.

How Long Should You Wait

Once you completely fill the molds, wait for twenty-four hours for the soap to complete their gel stage. Then, let it sit for another twelve hours. After thirty-six hours, your soaps are now ready to use.
